The 6th Annual Baton Rouge Mardi Gras Festival will be held Saturday, March 2 from 10:00am to 7:00pm at North Boulevard Town Square. The event features continuous live music, on two stages, Mardi Gras Indians, a Vendor’s Village, visual artists, ‘Taste of Louisiana’ platters and festival food favorites. It’s family friendly and free to the public. Lawn seating. No ice chests. The venue is located at 200 North Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70801. This year’s festival is expanding onto two stages and will feature live music on both the Galvez Crest and the Town Lawn Stages. Musical styles include blues, soul, R&B, rock, pop, gospel, reggae and spoken word. Acts confirmed to date on the Galvez Plaza Stage are headliner Henry Turner, Jr. & Flavor, The Listening Room All-Stars that include ‘Nspire, Wyanda Paul, Lee Tyme, Xavie Shorts, April Jackson, Eddie “Cool” Deemer, Larry “LZ” Dillon and Uncle Chess and the Groove Band. Additional acts include Clarence “PieMan” Williams and The Rouge Band, Bobby G. Summers, Keith Lewis and Mardi Gras Indian Queen Vee, Total Control Band and SmokeHouse Porter and Miss Mamie.
Performers confirmed for the Town Lawn Stage are Chris Branco, Shelia Kay, The Beford’s, Personal Praise, A-1 Game, Greg Robinson, Linda McKenzie, Terrell Griffin, One Trick Pony. Proph3t N’ser, The Restoration Sound and Wilhem McCormick. Dance troupes include African Queen Z’s Dance Troupe and the Phi Gamma Sigma Youth Sorority Step Dance Team.
DJ’s for the Mardi Gras Festival this year are Teddy “Lloyd” Johnson, Solomon Kincaid, Chuck Harrison, Brett “B J” Lewis and Makeva Armant-Muhammad, Royal International Ms. Louisiana 2019.
